Ahhhh, it's that sneezy, itchy eyes time of year. The beautiful tulips blooming outside also bring my own, personal (seasonal) suffering. Not cool, Mother Nature. And I live in a very old, leaky house, so whatever is happening outside usually finds it's way inside. So how do I keep pollen at bay indoors (and ease my seasonal allergy suffering)? Here are my 5 tips to keep the pollen at bay this Spring: 5 Spring Cleaning Tips to Fight Pollen Indoors 1. Dust with a Damp Cloth - Use a slightly damp cloth rather than your dry dusters to trap pollen instead of stirring it into the air. 2. Vacuum with a HEPA Filter - Regular vacuuming (especially near entryways and windows) with a HEPA-filter vacuum helps trap fine pollen particles that settle in carpets and rugs. 3. Wash Soft Surfaces Often - Pollen loves to cling to curtains, bedding, throw pillows, and pet beds. Wash them weekly during peak pollen season in hot water if possible. 4. Clean Entryways Frequently - Floors near doors and windows collect a ton of pollen. Mop them regularly and wipe down door frames, windowsills, and screens with an all-purpose cleaner. Pro Tip: wipe walls faster with the Sh-Mop's large surface area, then move onto the floors without spreading pollen everywhere! 5. Don't Forget the Fur - Brush or wipe down your pets regularly, especially after outdoor time, and vacuum their favorite hangout spots often. Happy sneezing, I mean cleaning!
